Camp Movie

Hey Readers,

I spent a long time on my movie, finally I finished it but I didn't include any photos or videos form the 3rd day its because I took so much time looking for other photos and it took such a long time to load (sorry). Camp was such a cool experience and also the movie making, we got to use a different DLO (digital learning object)/Website. The website I got to use was Wevideo. I learn't so many things by using Wevideo, I never even knew that you could play a text and a photo at the same time! I had quite a hard time uploading the photos over and over again since you were only allowed to upload one photo and video at a time it was also pretty slow uploading the photos a videos, but besides from that I loved using Wevideo. Something that I could've better was added more videos!  

The video will make you feel like your really there and the video will tell you what happened at camp, all the problems all the fights and... MOVIE NIGHT!!!!

Buddy Reading

Hey Readers, 

Last Week we got to get into pairs with Kotuku and we would have to read to them but it was different we would normally get a book from the library in our classroom head down to their class and take turns reading books to them. But we had to get our Chromebooks and head down to their class and show them these movies we have been making from camp (sorry I haven't finished mine but it's on it's way). It came to a surprise that Mrs Lee told us that "So Ruru you have to type up a story from their books and post it onto your blog I paired up with Nathan. He had an amazing piece of writing! Here is his writing!

Hi everyone,

For reading we have been learning about something to do with camp since we are going to camp soon.

Create task 1 Was really fun we read this map named turtle island, on the map was these squares spread all along the paper they were numbered 1-31, there were instructions we had to follow like draw a turtle in box 21 or 27, draw a fish in box 7.

Create task 2 Was sooo much fun too, we had made labels for our bunk rooms, mine was golden and yellow. It had my name in cursive, underneath my name said "best fries forever!" (AKA best friends forever) and at the top was a gold ribbon at the end of the golden ribbon was gold bows, on the bottom right was a giant pretty bow, the left side had a golden sunflower and background was yellow and gold!

Create task 3 We choose a topic on a website, then we made an infographic I chose seals and sea lions. Here are my 10 facts about them!

Chinese language week

For the thousand time I am sorry that it came out late. I only got to do one create task, for create task one we had to pick a scene from the Chinese text " The Race "  then we needed to turn the scene into a comic  here is my comic! 

I promise that I will put more effort in it next time!!

How Maui discovered Fire

This week the text I chose is How Maui discovered fire the first create task is the same as Kupe and the giant wheke. We had to analyse our story on a sheet!

Second create task copy and paste the statement and write 3 reasons why you disagree and agree with it. Here are my reasons why?

And I have also done my 3rd create task! (Yay) For the 3rd create task we had to spot out some Maori words and translate them, I didn't find any Maori words in my text. Some words in my glossary will translate the words in create task 2 I hope you will  enjoy my create task!

Kupe and the giant wheke

 Hey Readers, 

WALT:analyse and evaluate the actions story lines of moari myths and legends.

This is my reading create for this week. Since it is Maori language week we had to choose a text related to Maori, I chose Kupe and the giant wheke (octopus) out of the four texts: How Maui discovered fire, The creation of night and day, Rata and the Totara tree. The No.1 create task was Analyse your story, we had to write in these little boxes and answer the question like where is the story set and everything but unfortunately I couldn't take a picture in of my paper since it is at school and I am at home!

Here is my No.2 create task we had to write in a column why we disagree or agree with the statement!

I couldn't do No.3 create task because I was stuck on 1 and 2 create tasks!

Sorry I couldn't post anything last week, it was a busy busy week! But this week and last week we were learning about Olympians! Each book we chose were something to do with the Olympics the book I chose is "Chicken Olympics" its is about 2 girls Ruby and Ella they set up funny little competitions for their chickens!

but then we got 2 arterial one was about the olden days Olympics and now a days Olympics. And did you know in ancient Olympics there were only 10 sports?

then the other one was about 14 Olympians I chose Eliza McCartney the other 13 were: Valery Adams, Sarah Walker, Danyon loader, Ian Ferguson, Sarah Ulmer, Sir Mark Todd, Sophie Pascoe, Mahe Drysdale, Sir John Walker, Yuette Corlette nee Williams, Barbara Kendall and Dylan schmidt, but why did I choose Eliza McCartney? you can find out in my create task No.1, I hope you enjoy and find this interesting too!

This is my create task 2, we had to chose a country and then write 20 facts about it. I chose Australia, I didn't finish my create task 2 though.

Reading BORING!

 This week we have been looking at plays. The title of my play is "BORING!" We have many other book choices: Professor Clever, Fish for dinner, The great bank robbery, Superglue, Sing your heart out,Guests for dinner, The repair shop, Any excuse, A better life, What is it? and Belladonna. Their is also a big play about the magic school bus going to Italy it will be featuring all of Ruru.  The people in my play are Karitiana= pirate 2, Polly= pirate 1, Jf=Alex, Victoria= princess And Renae= Knight and also Hannaneh= alien.

we only had one create task. WALT recognise texts are constructed for different purposes, audiences and situations. My create task has a summery of my story and a design of my costume and why i designed it like that! I hope you enjoy!!

Albert Einstein Reading Create task

This is this weeks Create task! The book that I chose is about Albert Einstein out of Amelia Earhart, Walt Disney, Nelson Mandela Mather, Luther king Anne frank, Alexander graham belle and Thomas Edison. The first box is about the main text, the 2 box is the connection between the main text and the complementary text, the second is the same too but it is connected to the challenge text.

Cybersmarts Private or Personal information

Today we did some cybersmarts about Private or Personal. Knowing the difference between the two will help you keep safe online!

What i found hard was where to put everything, because it looked very stuffed and full. 

This was totally ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 out of 5 for learning but it was a ⭐⭐✩✩✩ 2 out of 5 for enjoyment because it took a lot of time but we had not that much time, here is mine.

This is my create task 1 sorry it came out late it is because the video was not working before and now it is, but I still gave it a shot after our amazing Mrs Lee fixed it. this is about nelson Mandela. we had to choose one famous person we had to read about but i choose Nelson Mandela, and i say all people should be treated the same!

Witting Compound sentences

 Hi writers,

Today our writing was about compound sentences. In a compound sentence there is a verb a fanboy and a noun.

Each person will write 5 simple sentences.

Once they are completed you will finish the simple sentence by adding a FANBOYS word (or other conjunction) and make it into a compound sentence.

Reading Matariki 24/6/2021

 Hi readers, 

This is today's create task and this is the WALT: Summarise and analyse ideas and information from different text.

 We had to look into 2 videos and read 2 other texts. Then we had to write down what happened into a google doc  in 4 individual boxes. once we had finished that we could chose 2 out of 4 things

Matariki is a family of stars. Symbolises the moari new year. The mother of the 7 sisters is Ranginui and the father is papa tu Enuku.

#2:

Matariki is the eldest of the 7 sisters. The matariki is when the crops' food starts to grow or the fishermen catch many fishes. Matariki guides her sisters.

This website is teaching us that matariki is not a constellation, it is a cluster. Matariki is one of the star clusters nearest to Earth. Matariki is close to Earth ,but it’s still 440 light years away.

Student Summit 24/6/21

Hey Readers,

Today we went on a trip to Hornby primary school to do a student summit, with lots of other schools. (Gilberthorpe,hornby,st Bernadette, some other schools)  We used a lot of digital tools we used  scratch and google slides we got to play with little robots and learn how to code and how to use google tools here are some photos of us.

The part that i enjoyed the most is when we got to program a bot.

Reading Create Task

Hi Reading Friends, Today was a very tough day it is the last day to blog and also it is book week we get to dress up in our most enjoyed book character or movie and the book i chose is about the empty pot a boy who was named Ping who loved gardening!  

One day the emperor gave all the children seeds and said who will grow the best plant will be crowned, the emperor but you have 1 year to grow the seed the days passed and yet pings plant did not grow. At the end of the year ping came to the emperor with an empty pot and the emperor crowned ping the new emperor because the emperor new they would not grow because the seeds were cooked!

But besides from my book there were 7 other texts The bad case of stripes, Hairy Mclary, The wonkey donkey, Pigasso meets Mootise, You are special, Where the wild things are and Peter rabbit.

This weeks Walt is: Make connections between ourselves, other texts and the world. 

This is my 2 create task, you can see it is a slide show it is about my book choice the "The empty pot" it has questions in it and i answered them already .

Reading 9/6/2021

This weeks WALT is synthesis ideas and information in a narrative text. The topic of this week is fairy tales/fable. Our writing is about fairy tales too.

My main story/book choice is about Goldilocks but there is a twist, baby bear is not a bear he is a lamb and why is lil bo peep here? wait that is not lil bo peep that is the big bad WOLF hey Goldilocks is here she says go away wolf the wolf thinking about going to the red hens story!!

My challenge text is kinda like the original little red riding hood. Red riding hood’s mother said go and get some raspberries. She went and found some. on her way back, she came across wolf and said give me some berries. Red riding hood paused so the wolf started to chase lil red, lil red ran up a tree. The wolf said i am just very hungry, the wolf’s tummy growled so lil red shared her berries.  

And last but certainly not least my complimentary Girl gets lost and come across a small house there is a big bowl a medium bowl and a small bowl the first two were either to hot or cold but the small one was just right so she ate it all up. Next she found 3 chairs she went to sit in the first two the both were not right, the smallest chair was just right but when she started to get comfy it collapsed and broke. So she found 3 beds the two were not feeling right she then fell fast asleep on the 3rd bed the 3 bears came back home and found Goldilocks asleep!

Reading create task 28/5/21 Term 2

Hi Readers, this weeks WALT is: Use prior knowledge when making text to text connections.

My book choice is called the hungry wave it is about a big tsunami hitting a village, the main characters are Ana and Sina (which is the mum) and their brothers Mika and Niko the problem is a tsunami came to their village the solution is that they ran to a higher level of ground. 

My Complementary text is about tsunami here is what i learnt, do you know that tsunamis can be 30 m tall? Do you know that tsunamis are caused by earthquakes, landslide volcano eruptions and meteorite’s? Tsunamis can travel 500 miles per hour. When the waves reach land it starts to get deeper and deeper leading into destruction.

My challenge text is all about A girl who makes a tornado. She uses two bottles and adds water and flips it. While it drains really quickly it starts increasing the speed making the water spin and wallah a tornado, but underwater.

27/5/2021 Number lines

 WALT Read a rod track to find patterns. Today we had to find how to skip count all the way to 50 with out any extras spaces or extra blocks.

 Try and find out many different ways to skip count all the way to 50!!!

Wk3 T2 Reading 19/5/21

Hi viewers this is about my reading .Walt use prior knowledge when making text- to-text connections. I learned these things from my challenge text,complementary text and my book choice.this is what i learnt from my challenge text,Floods are very dangerous they usually happen on a dry area of land you,there are 4 types of Floods, Flash  Flood, Rapid  Flood, slow onset Flood,  Flood storm and surge Flood.my book choice is about a girl called Ama and her mum,their house got flooded and Ama's sister Annie and their dad was stuck in wellington so mum suggested that they would go to their grandparents house which was on a higher ground. My complementary text is about a boy named Gus, his mother told  him “how was school? We were doing science and suddenly the room filled up with water. The class hopped on the tables and the teacher said “head to the gym”  when we got there it was full of water too they opened the front doors the whole front yard has turned into a sea the cops and the firefighters came to.

This week the book I chose is weird zone. It is all about a divorced dad and a 2 kids they set of camping. Dad is acting weird again and the kids help him with the tent they ask him why he is acting weird “I am not used to mum gone she usually does al the house work” he cries. my challenge text is about a field mouse and a buffalo a field mouse challenge’s the buffalo, the mouse runs up to the buffalo’s ear the buffalo falls and dies then a fox comes along and asks for some meat he asks for a head intestines and four feet of the buffalo. My complimentary text is a site for new Zealanders to see different parts if the country.

Bio poem

 Hello! this is my bio poem that we did at the start at the term/year here is the process! 

First we had to draw a pattern with white crayon, then we had to die it with the 3 primary colours ,and then we made phrases like "who feels ____" then we glued it on to the art work and our amazing teacher Mrs Lee took photos of us making cute little actions we also glued it on the art!! Wacky Wensday

 Hi everybody this is our create task during our swimming lessons. During the week we had to work with kereru. We all went up in pairs of two and went and go make our create tasks and i got to know this boy called Ryan. It was pretty hard at first with me and my buddy but it all worked out in the end. The WALT today is making connections between what we know and the author's message as we read. Enjoy!!!
